Saturday November 26th – Trivia Night

The band will once again host a Trivia Night on Satuday November 26th – lead by the outstanding duo of Steve and John – doors will open at 6pm, questions will start from 6:30pm – bring along your friends – 8 per table. Cost is $10 for an individual and $25 for a family – all must be members of the same immediate family. BYO food and drinks. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Sunday December 4th – Keith Humble Centre

The Senior, Youth, Workshop and Youth Stage Band will perform their final concert for 2011 at the Keith Humble Centre, Geelong College Senior School, Aphrasia St, Newtown at 2:30pm on Sunday December 4th. Tickets can be purchased at the door – Adults $8 and concession/students $5.

Sunday December 11th – Leopold Carols by Candlelight

The Youth Band will perform at Leopold Carols by Candlelight at the Leopold Primary School from 6pm – 9pm on Sunday December 11th. Entry is free – go along and support the band as they support the local community and local singers in their renditions of a variety of Christmas carols.

Saturday December 24th – Carols by Candlelight

The Senior Band will perform at Carols by Candlelight in Johnstone Park on Christmas eve from 7:30pm onwards. Entry is free – go along and support the band as they support the local community and local singers in their renditions of a variety of Christmas carols.

Come along to the Geelong West Town Hall at 7:30pm on Saturday October 22nd where the Geelong Concert Band Workshop, Youth, Senior and Big Band’s will present an auditory tour of the world. Guest Compere Lachy Joyce will not only entertain you throughout the night but he will also be singing with the GCB Big Band. Tickets are available at the door from 6:30pm – ticket prices are Adults $15, Concession/Student $12, Children under 16 $10 and Group bookings of 10+ tickets $10 each.

There are currenly vacancies on all instruments except bass guitar and percussion in the new workshop band. If you would like to learn to play an instrument – NO AGE LIMITS – please email geelongcb@gmail.com ASAP so you can be registered and ready to start at the first rehearsal on Friday April 29th.

All GCB Bands are now on holidays and there will be no rehearsals held on Friday April 8th. All bands, including the new Workshop Band, will return to rehearsal on Friday April 29th. Have a safe Easter break.

On FRIDAY MARCH 4th, Youth and Senior Band’s will be rehearsing at the Keith Humble Centre, Geelong College Senior School, Aphrasia Street, Newtown.

The Geelong Concert Youth and Senior Band will present an Easter Concert on Saturday April 2nd at Robertson Hall, Geelong College Preparatory School (enter off Minerva Road), Newtown starting at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door – Adults $8, Concession/Student $5. We will also be running an Easter Raffle on this evening, so bring along some loose change for your chance to win a fantastic prize. Tickets for the raffle will only be sold on the night of the concert and you must be there to win your prize.

Fees for the Geelong Concert Band are based on a flat term rate of $37 per term for Youth and Senior Band members and $85 per term for Workshop Band members (from term 2). You can pay your fees via direct debit – check your newsletter for banking information.

The Geelong Concert Band will be forming a new Workshop Band from term 2, 2011. This means that we are looking for people who would like to learn to play an instrument. You don’t need to have any experience in playing or reading music – we will teach you all the skills required to become a budding musician.

We will be holding an information evening where you can hear the instruments played and try them out for yourself before you decide on what instrument you would like to play.

The information evening will be held on THURSDAY MARCH 24th starting at 7:00pm at Robertson Hall, Geelong College Preparatory School (enter off Minerva Rd and follow the road to the end). If you have any questions before the night, please contact Trish Kinrade on 0417 148 193.

The Geelong Concert Senior Band and Big Band will be performing this evening in the Geelong Botanical Gardens as part of the Friends of the Gardens concert series. Concert kicks off at 5pm and runs through until 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $15 each. Bring along a picnic and enjoy the fantastic sounds of the Geelong Concert Band Inc.

The current Workshop Band members will move to the Youth band from 2011 and we will begin the year with a new Workshop Band. If you would like to learn to play any of the following instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Bass Guitar or Percussion, please come along to our information evening on Wednesday December 8th at 7:00pm at Robertson Hall, Geelong College Prep School (enter off Minerva Rd). On this evening you will hear a demonstration of the instruments listed above as well as have the opportunity to try them all out to see what suits you best.
